RECOGNITION
 
The efforts of Les Amis de la montagne have often been recognized by the Montréal community.
  • 1996: Heritage Montréal and the City of Montréal honoured les Amis de la montagne with an award in the framework of its program to save heritage sites, Opération Patrimoine Populaire de Montréal.
  • 1998: Sauvons Montréal (Save Montréal) awarded Les Amis de la montagne its Prix Orange for the rehabilitation work following the ice storm.
  • 2001: The American Society of Landscape Architects presented its Award of Excellence to Les Amis de la montagne in recognition of their work for the protection and preservation of the historic landscape of Mount Royal.
  • 2002: Sauvons Montréal awarded Les Amis de la montagne its Prix Orange for spearheading the organisation of the Mount Royal Summit held March 14, 2002, and a Mention Orange for the Clifton Project. This project resulted in the expansion of the mountain’s green space through the acquisition and demolition of the Clifton Apartments on Côte-des-Neiges Road, followed by the renaturalisation of the land.
  • 2006: Les Amis de la montagne, in partnership with Power Corporation of Canada, the Ville de Montréal and the Gouvernement du Québec, are recipients of the 2006 Prix Orange presented by Sauvons Montréal for the restoration of the Beaver Lake pavilion.
