The Centre de la montagne was founded in 1981 with an environmental education mission. It implements measures to encourage the preservation and appreciation of Mount Royal, and works to improve the urban environment. Having merged activities with Les Amis de la montagne and grouping both under the same "Les Amis de la montagne" banner, the organization continues to provide many services directly to visitors to help them better discover, explore and appreciate Mount Royal.
	HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS
	THE CENTRE DE LA MONTAGNE CAME INTO BEING IN 1981 when biology students from the University of Montréal decided to set up an interpretation centre in parc du Mont-Royal.
