The Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery was established in 1854 and is owned by the Catholic parish of the Notre-Dame Basilica. Considered the largest Catholic cemetery in Canada, Notre-Dame-des-Neiges was classified an historic site by the federal government in 1999.

Founded in 1843 in Longueuil by Eulalie Durocher, the SNJM religious community erected a series of institutional buildings in Outremont. These buildings surround the Église St-Germain, including the boarding school (1903), the Collège Jésus-Marie (now the Marie-Victorin Pavilion of the Université de Montréal), the mother house (1925), the Vincent-d'Indy music school and the Claude-Champagne theatre. www.snjm.qc.ca
Founded in 1878, the Université de Montréal, together with its affiliated institutions, the École Polytechnique and HEC Montréal, was the first university in Quebec and the second in Canada. The university offers programs at every level of study and courses in French in all contemporary domains.
Established following the Burnside donation, the country property of James McGill in 1820, McGill University is today one of Canada's most important research universities. McGill is affiliated with four teaching hospitals and has about 32,000 enroled students.
