  - Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery
    
    The Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery was established in 1854 and is owned by the Catholic parish of the Notre-Dame Basilica. Considered the largest Catholic cemetery in Canada, Notre-Dame-des-Neiges was classified an historic site by the federal government in 1999.

    Les amis de la montagne react to the renewal of the lease with the Société Radio-Canada for their antenna on the mountain
    
    October 29, 2008 - Les amis de la montagne present their position paper before the Office de consultation publique de Montréal this evening, October 29, on the project to renew the lease between the Ville de Montréal and the Société Radio-Canada for their antenna located in Mount Royal Park.
    
    Les amis are pleased that the renewed lease includes a financial compensation to be directed exclusively towards the protection of the Mount Royal Historic and Natural District.
    
    With the renewal of the lease, occurring for the first time since the creation of the protected district in 2005, Les amis propose that different scenarios be envisioned to better integrate the tour in the mountain landscape. You can read Les amis’ position paper (available in French) here.

  - The domain of the Sœurs des St-Noms-de-Jésus-et-de-Marie (SNJM)
    
    Founded in 1843 in Longueuil by Eulalie Durocher, the SNJM religious community erected a series of institutional buildings in Outremont. These buildings surround the Église St-Germain, including the boarding school (1903), the Collège Jésus-Marie (now the Marie-Victorin Pavilion of the Université de Montréal), the mother house (1925), the Vincent-d'Indy music school and the Claude-Champagne theatre. www.snjm.qc.ca

    Founded in 1878, the Université de Montréal, together with its affiliated institutions, the École Polytechnique and HEC Montréal, was the first university in Quebec and the second in Canada. The university offers programs at every level of study and courses in French in all contemporary domains.

  - McGill University
    
    Established following the Burnside donation, the country property of James McGill in 1820, McGill University is today one of Canada's most important research universities. McGill is affiliated with four teaching hospitals and has about 32,000 enroled students. In 2008, McGill is preparing its new master plan that should include solutions to its lack of space for development. www.mcgill.ca

  - The MUHC
    
    The MUHC is the result of the merger of the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Montreal Thoracic Institute, the Montreal General Hospital, the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal Neurological Hospital. www.muhc.ca
    
    Montreal General Hospital
    
    Founded on May 1st, 1819, the Montreal General Hospital moved to its site on the mountain in the 1950s. Inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955, the actual building was constructed on the site of the Amelia Lodge, villa of Samuel Monk. Today, the project to expand by 50% is in the works to create the Mountain Campus of the MUHC.
    
    Royal Victoria Hospital
    
    With the help of generous benefactors, the Royal Victoria Hospital was built in 1893 and named in honour of the British sovereign's 50th anniversary. Measuring over 1 million square feet, the buildings are the fruit of more than 40 phases of construction. The Hersey Pavilion was named a National Historic Site in 1997. With the construction of the new MUHC megahospital, the future of this complex is uncertain.
    
    Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital
    
    Doctor Wilder Graves Penfield (1891-1976) was already well known prior to his arrival at the Royal Victoria Hospital in 1928. Thanks to a generous $1,2 million donation from the Rockefeller Foundation and the support of private benefactors, foundations, governments and McGill University, Dr. Penfield founded the Neurological Institute and Hospital in 1934.
    
    Shriners Hospital
    
    Open on February 18, 1925, near the Children's Memorial Hospital, the Shriners orthopaedic hospital for children is unique in Canada. The Shriners Hospital is however, part of a large North American hospital network. On April 23, 2008, the hospital administration announced its intention to join the MUHC megahospital at the Glen Yards. The future of the current building has not yet been officially addressed. www.shrinershq.org
