LES AMIS DE LA MONTAGNE LAUNCH THEIR BENEFIT EVENT IN SUPPORT OF MONT ROYAL
Presented by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation
As part of the official inauguration of the permanent exhibition, “Mont Royal, A Territory to Discover” held on November 9th, Les amis de la montagne and the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation announced the winners of the photo contest, “La montagne en images.”
The photo contest is aimed at highlighting the heritage, activities and beauty of Mont Royal through photography. The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, partners of this second edition of the contest, also provided financial support to the permanent exhibition, “Mont Royal, A Territory to Discover”, through a donation of $75,000.
“Not only do the photographers express their creativity by immortalizing the mountain through photography, they also help to sensitize those who admire their work of the natural, social and heritage riches of Mont Royal,” said Amélie Picher, Regional Director of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. “We are therefore pleased to contribute to the enhancement of the mountains’ beauty as seen through the eyes of photographers. We congratulate the winners of the contest and invite members of the community to visit the exhibit in great numbers to admire these unique artistic creations.”
Amélie Picher joined Sylvie Guilbault, Executive Director of Les amis de la montagne, to preside over the prize ceremony to recognize the top three winners in each of the contest categories, including: Works of art and buildings, Activities and pastimes, Fauna of Mont Royal, Trees and forests of Mont Royal, and Light, as well as the Grand Prix du Jury, the Prix des Amis, the Honorable Mention and the Jury’s Pick.
“Les amis de la montagne are pleased that the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation are partners in the realization of the exhibition “Mont Royal, A Territory to Discover” and particularly of the photo contest, that benefitted this year from an increase in participants, enamoured by Mont Royal. The mountain has been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists through time, as witnessed by the winning photos of the contest. I would like to thank all the contest participants for their important contribution towards the enhancement of Mont Royal and I invite Montrealers to visit Maison Smith to enjoy the exhibition,” said Sylvie Guilbault.

In addition, throughout the seasons, thematic activities are proposed to visitors to increase their appreciation of the mountain, such as a discovery of landscape from the look-outs, and awareness-raising of the issues related to the park’s use. Furthermore, events are organized to create memorable experiences, such as Les amis de la montagne’s participation in the Montreal All-Nighter held as part of the Montreal High Lights Festival, which takes place every winter.
