Cavalry Unit SPVM
The Cavalry Unit is one of the specialized teams of the City of Montréal’s police force. One of its missions is to patrol parks and places that are inaccessible to motorized vehicles on the Island of Montréal.
You are likely to come across police officers in the park ,or you can go and see them by visiting the stables
- A police officer will be pleased to share with you his or her love of horses and to tell you about his or her work as a cavalry patroller.
- Visit the Musée de la police (police museum) to learn more about the history of policing in Montréal.
Did you know that…
- All the horses in the cavalry are of the Canadian breed.
- The colour of their coats is preferably dark bay to black and most are geldings.
